TAITAITAITAITAI makes installations with people/objects that melt. They are highly abstracted scenes of dehumanization, aestheticized and fetished, involving her body and stand ins for her body.
She was recently named a 2026 Newcity Magazine Breakout Artist and 2024 Comfort Station Artist to Watch. Her presentation history has spanned across fine, performing, and public art venues. Recent locations include the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Museo Universitario del Chopo, Graham Foundation, Logan Center, W.I.H.S.H. projects, Leisure., No Nation Art Lab, and Siren Arts. Past work has also been hosted by Essex Gallery, FiveMyles, Supercollider, Monte Vista Projects, New York Live Arts, and Judson Memorial.
Before landing the United States, she grew up in Taiwan, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, and El Salvador. After coming to the US at 18, she has lived in St. Louis, New York, Oakland, and Chicago. Perhaps these art works she makes can be a source of curiosity, catharsis, and contemplation.
